The Great Injustice

I've been so angered today that I feel I must record this in some way, it is proof, evidence of the fact that ageism is everywhere. And when I say ageism I do not mean it in the traditional sense.
So, the school thinks that it is smart. Hmm, let's make 3 exams happen in 1 hall, yes, what could possibly go wrong?
What a ruddy joke.
This stupid idea of saving space may have actually worked had there been anyone of any common sense and remote understanding to supervise such an elaborate idea. The AQA Geography exam lasts 1 hour 45 mins whilst the other two exams, Food Tec (I think) and Drama lasted 2 hours. To solve this some dimwit said hmm, let's force the Geography group revise for half an hour before their test- in the actual exam hall. Which even if executed properly, would still have left a gap of 15 mins meaning that no matter what happens someone is going to have to disturb someone else by leaving earlier than them. So what ever the point of that revision plan was, it failed.

This was not helped by the ignorant, foolish, stupid, unfathomably dumb teachers and that old woman that's only there for exams who no one actually listens to anyway, and even if they do it's out of wanting to get a grade after the exam and certainly not out of great respect to her. I was left momentarily speechless at the possibility of someone being so ignorant and plainly, ageist to not listen to the numerable students looking at the time at the board and going- huh?
That woman, that stupid old woman decided that the revision was actually part of the exam. In what backwards age or country does someone have an exam which includes revision? Is there an exam on Revising as a subject? No. Because revision is not an exam.
But to this woman it just has to be- right? I complained to her about four times. Four bloody times. I tried to be polite, respectful and explain calmly that on the front of the paper (which I had showed her) it states in bold type 1hr 45mins. How can it be any clearer?
What made even less sense, if there was any there to begin with was that after myself and Pauline and Ijoema brought this to her attention, Mr Smith waltzes in and after a bit of what I can only guess was incoherent babbling, she manages to change the time about 5 times though I was far to angry to count. By the end, about 35 mins was taken from us. Stolen. There is a reason why we are given nearly 2 hours, because the test is bloody long. I'd like to see her try it. To lose such a vast amount of exam time is purely ridiculous.

That woman must be the most ageist person on the planet and so was her so called young accomplice Mr Rowley who didn't even have the guts to as us what the problem was and just went along with whatever the adult said. Can you imagine?! Age is but a number, it does not mean for a second that suddenly this woman knows everything there is to know about GCSEs, when we- the young people are sitting them! We are the ones who are losing out- not them, they still get paid. Do we? No, it's for our benefit. We were ignored kicked out (when the given time was up) and so, we were practically shouting as soon as we left the door. Swear words came from my mouth and I was sure to be shaking wishing I could knock some sense into these so called authority figures. And yet, that English teacher comes out and has the audacity to kick us out, practically pushing us out the door, claiming that it's 'irrelevant' now, because it's 'over'. But no- it is not, apparently we have 35 mins left before we have to go anywhere.

So there we were, shunned out into the bitter cold of St George's Rd. And so we loitered. Angry and all in all, pretty pissed off. If I had been a few years older, maybe that woman wouldn't have been so quick to not listen, or wouldn't have looked down at me so patronising by my third attempt to explain saying 'the exam is not as long as you think'. Well, what would I know, it's not like I've actually done this exam for my mocks last year or anything? And in hindsight I would have said that in an equally patronising tone to hers, accept I was too flabbergasted to respond.

So we took matters into our own hands, and a large group of us made an epic march back into the school, to the reception and politely asked that a message should be given to our Geo. teacher making sure that there is no way that she can wriggle out of giving us time on Friday to finish. We may have lost the battle in the Hall, but we will win the war.

Not my most eloquent of arguments but I'm too speechless about how someone could be so stupid to even find the write words to actually express how frustrating it all was.
