Some Ramblings

So, gale force winds and rain are sweeping the nations once again; welcome to the British Winter, it's as if Autumn never really existed. And during this time of year, everyone seems tired and angered in some way, whether it be the credit crunch or people smashing your eggs in science the doom and gloom is truly upon us once more. Because of this, I have some rants:
1. Hedonism is stupid.
Basically, it's the idea that we should live for the experience and for one's own goal... or something like that. But this is soooo dumb in a world in which beauty pageant queens constantly wish for world peace, I mean, come on! If everyone was more worried about themselves and what they gain from anything we would be even further from any type of utopia than we already are, though I'm not a fan of utopia anyway.
2. Why should everything in life depend on luck?
I know not everything depends on it, but the majority of anything in this world is based on lottery. E.g. Being born into a good, whole and rich family; Not getting cancer; Being intelligent. These are all things that in life we have no control over. That's just not fair.
...Okay maybe in a way it is but that is quite hard to explain.
